• Vessel must be prepared and operational

  • Ensure all necessary paperwork including previous surveys, maintenance records, registration and Coast Guard documentation is available

  • All lockers must be accessible for viewing and inventory

  • Owner or purchaser is encouraged to be present during inspection

  • Have all safety equipment together for inspection, including PFDs, throwables, flares, sound-making devices, fire extinguishers, life-rafts, etc.

  • Ensure all bilge areas are dry for inspection of thru-hull fittings and pumps

  • Ensure access to all anchors, chains and lines

  • If a trailer is to be included in inspection ensure registration and maintenance records are available

  • If vessel will be hauled, contact the hauler to insure a scheduled time and that vessel is properly blocked/secured

  • If trial run is to be conducted then the owner or broker must be present to operate and ensure necessary paperwork is available
